Around the Showroom we have zippers on display in different groups to show the endless possibilities that can be created with our zipper parts. Kei Kegami who designed the interior made it possible to hide the zippers during events by pulling the cover down from above to give it a sleek look.

The majority of the YKK logos worldwide have a corporate black and white style sign except the one hanging in the Showroom. It keeps in style with the rest of the Showroom interior with an industrial finish.

YKK London Showroom Interior Details
The interior in the YKK Showroom has been pushed to the limit to create an industrial look. The inspiration behind our interiors brings to mind a metal factory. Inside the Showroom there is a metal structural frame with movable details. The dynamic nature of this design means that the space can be transformed seamlessly from a showroom to an event space in seconds.

Every element of the Showroom was designed to be functional and visually pleasing. Just take a look at this hanging rack in our Snap and Button section of the Showroom. The design is very simple, minimalist, space-savvy but at the same time decorative.

When it comes to design it is all about details. You will not find an element in the space that hasn't been thought through. The Showroom is full of small details and metal accents. The inspiration for the architecture of the showroom goes back to the roots of YKK and the industrial image of the company – founded in 1934; YKK produces not only the individual components but also the machines that make each part of the zipper.

The showroom was specifically designed with our special activities in mind including student workshops and events - the hanging shelves are moveable to change the shape of the space. Previous events we have held include Graduate Fashion Week party, Morcheeba album launch and Jo Cope exhibition party

YKK London Showroom
The interior of the YKK London Showroom was designed by fashion designer Kei Kagami who has worked with YKK since 1998. Kagami was inspired by YKK’s industrial roots and an industrial theme; imagining a metal factory filled with functional objects only, such as a skeleton frame and welding equipment. Historically the showroom space was a small cinema dating back to 1933. Kagami calls the overall design theme an ‘industrial sanctuary’.
