The Plant Palette — Bougainvillea
The Plant Palette — Bougainvillea is a vibrant, fast-growing climber known for its striking, papery bracts that come in vivid shades of magenta, purple and red. It thrives in full sun and is well-suited for warm, dry climates, making it a favourite for Mediterranean-inspired landscapes. Bougainvillea can be used to cover walls, pergolas, and fences, creating a dramatic backdrop. Its cascading growth habit makes it particularly stunning when trained to climb or spill over ledges.
The Plant Palette
The Plant Palette — Our Founder, Anthony Wyer says, "The plant palette is comprehensive, featuring 30 mature trees and palms (such as Livistonia Australis, Howea Forsteriana, Plumeria (Frangipani), Cycas Revoluta, Yucca Rostrate), strategically placed alongside the garden’s existing natives (Banksia Integrifolia, Melaleuca Quinquenervia), ensuring the garden's full and established appearance from the outset."
The Plant Palette
The Plant Palette — dappled light from Betula Nigra filters through the canopy, casting movement across white-flowering Spathiphyllum and the broad, textural foliage of Fatsia Japonica and Philodendron ‘Rojo Congo’ in the foreground. These combinations contribute to a planting scheme that feels both intentional and inherited, layered, expressive, and reflective of the garden’s evolving history.

Plant Palette
Plant Palette — Creepers and climbing vines are a quiet force in a landscape, shaping facades, softening boundaries, and drawing the eye across built form. At Wyer & Co., we often use trailing species to create depth and movement in a garden. Whether framing an entryway, cloaking a wall, or weaving through hardscape, these plants contribute to a layered and established feel.
Banyan Beach House
Banyan Beach House — There were no structural or retaining walls, and no defined boundaries for the house or its outdoor space. In a way this gave us a sense of freedom to write a story for this property. We used a mixture of native and exotic species that were resilient enough to survive, and would tonally complement the surrounding headland, bush, and native plant palate. The approach was to add sculptural elements but not take too much away from the wider natural environment.
Wyer & Co
Wyer & Co. — Every Wyer & Co. landscape is a unique response to people and place. Working closely with our designers as part of an integrated service, our construction team has the ability to interpret and execute complex landscape designs. Together, we ensure every aspect of the build is considered.
