Congratulations to our Foundation Learning Cricket team for winning the Lord’s Taverner’s disability cricket championships today. Our team beat Westminster, Newham and Lambeth College's to make it into an exciting final against Kingston College. The final score was 216 – 210. Well done team! We had a visit from KPMG this week who delivered a presentation about their student internship programme. The KPMG internship programme is an excellent opportunity for any aspiring student. In the last few years we have sent around 50 students to KPMG, many of them progressing onto successful careers within the company. Congratulations to our Foundation Learning Cricket team who have made it through the finals of the Lord’s Taverners Championships, which will be played at Lord's cricket ground in May. The team played matches at London Metropolitan University against both Hackney Community College and Richmond College to win through. Business students Redwan Sultan, Amina Akthar, Ruman Ahmed, Nadim Rahman, and Joinul Islam make it to the final of the Big Idea Challenge with their 35p bottled water concept. This is one of the UK’s biggest entrepreneurship competitions for college students and organised in partnership with London Metropolitan University, Microsoft, NatWest and Unilever. 500 participants from 10 colleges around London competed. Julia Hossain, from our 14-16 year old programme has been working with the Young Leader’s Programme to raise awareness around key issues. Julia has decided to work on the PREVENT strategy, which tackles the issues of terrorism and radicalisation and her work has led her to give presentations to groups of over 100 people – very impressive for a 16 year old! Our boys football team took part in the Tower Hamlets Mayor's Cup, played at Victoria Park on Sunday April 3. After a bright opening start, winning their first match against St Katherine's 2-1, with goals from Abdullahi Abdi-Isse and Hamse Giama - the boys went down narrowly 1-0 against the defending champions Tower Hamlets FC, missing out on a semi-final place.
