Dr. Ulrich Baensch presented to the world the first ever fish food for aquarium fish in a dry flake form: TetraMin. The name is derived from the Greek word "tetra" for the different types of flake and "Min" for the added vitamins. With this fish food, in the characteristic yellow tin with a brown lid, TetraMin made fishkeeping a hobby for everyone.

The most colourful fish to encounter, with its distinct pattern it is instantly recognisable when seen. Aptly named The Clown Triggerfish because when he wants to escape from predators he hides between rocks and wedges open his dorsal fin spine, locking it in place with. It can only be un-wedged if he releases a trigger under the skin. These Clown’s have some powerful teeth, feeding on crustaceans and mollusks – they have even been seen to devour beds of pearl oysters!

Most fish require 2-3 feeds a day, offering only as much as they can consume within a few minutes. Any uneaten food should be removed. For shy or nocturnal fish, e.g. plecostomus, it may be necessary to add a wafer or tablet before turning the lights out. You should check to make sure this has been eaten by the morning, and adjust feeding rates accordingly.

The Betta or Siamese Fighting Fish: The males are highly aggressive towards each other, using bright colouration and elaborate finnage as a display to warn intruding males. Females are larger and drably coloured to provide camouflage. A single male betta can be kept in the community aquarium but never keep two males in the same tank. We recommend feeding your Siamese Fighter, TetraBetta - a small floating flake food that promotes growth and enhances colour.
