Playground Canopy
The sound absorbent properties of tensile membrane cover systems are ideal for play areas and the new Nursery Playground canopy at Edward Worlledge Ormiston Academy in Great Yarmouth is a great example. One of three tensile membrane canopy structures installed at the canopy during 2021, the ORION Barrel Vault structure with its consistent eaves height provides year round shelter from the elements with good levels of diffused light through the canopy even on cloudy days.

Gable end and eaves design is a significant factor in balancing airflow with protection from the elements in enclosed canopies. Mesh fabric facade panels in the gable end of this ORION barrel vault canopy, absorb and deflect UV rays, while the micro-perforations allow airflow into the canopy area. PVC membrane on the roof and facade contrast with toughened glass windbreak panels, providing an architectural look with long term functionality.
ORION Walkway Canopy
The concept stages of a project provide great opportunities to present proposals in detail and engage stakeholders in the decision making process. This CGI image of our 35m x 4.4m ORION Walkway Canopy in location for Alexandra Park School in Muswell Hill, North London is an excellent example of Streetspace project visualisations. It also showcases our Sam Coughlan’s super-impressive CGI skills!

Courtyard canopy
To help Whalley Range High School in Manchester provide additional dining, break out and social space, we installed two new canopies providing over 280m2 of cover. The new canopies and associated hard surfacing are located within school courtyards with the only access for plant, materials and the canopy structures being by a 150t mobile crane!
Dining canopy
A series of four identical 60m2 TRITON canopies have recently been installed in grassed areas with new tarmac surfacing and outdoor dining tables, making it easier for students to benefit from the great outdoors between study periods. Due to the Academy’s coastal location, the new TRITON canopies were specified with the same profiled steel roof cladding as previous Streetspace projects on the site, protecting against the activities of local seagulls!
