two men standing next to each other with folded quilts in front of them and the words how to fold a quilt
318K views · 45K reactions | I think about my Mom everyday and often attribute my crafty skills to her…and my Dad. ❤️‍🩹 Although I don’t quilt she taught me the proper way to fold a quilt and I’m happy to pass along her knowledge! Step 1: Lay your quilt face down on a flat surface. Your folded quilt should always be face out so you can see the design. Step 2: Take a corner of your quilt and fold it into your quilt to form a triangle. Step 3: Take the unfolded corner and fold it on itself. Step 4: Fold one side of the quilt into the centre. Step 6: Fold the quilt into itself. Depending on the size of your quilt you may have to fold more than once. You can fold it onto itself again or accordian fold it - do whatever gets to the desired folded size. #quilting #greif #howtofold #memories #howtofoldaquilt #organization #springcleaning #loss #lossofalovedone | Crafty Lumberjacks | Facebook

someone is making something out of paper on the floor with their fingers and thumbnails
57K views · 450 reactions | #beginnersewing #sewingtips #sewingproject #sewing | By Tutorial sewing | You want to learn how to make bowl koozies, then stick around. This video is for you. You will need two different types of cotton. This has to be 100% cotton fabric. 100% cotton thread. You will need this microwave safe wrap and zap. You pre-soak that. This has already been soaked in water. You pre soak it. It helps with it not to shrink. And then let it dry before you're going to cut it. I actually use my Cricut to cut my material. But if you don't have a Cricut you can also make your own pattern. To make your own pattern you would take a 10 by 10 and a half by 10 and a half square. And then right in the middle you would not out each side. So this is what it looks like. Now I have two different patterns of fabric cut out and then underneath of those I have that batting. I am going to sew each of these in an X from here to here. Here to here. Then I'm going to fold this in half and I'm going to sew this together and this together. Then I'm going to fold it this way. Now I'm going to do all that again with this other fabric. I'm going to place this one right inside right sides together. Lining the seams up. Now I'm going to sew all the way around this but I am going to leave a gap so that I can turn it right side out. It's almost done but I still need to sew around the outside because there's the hole that I turn this inside out. So I'm actually going to do kind of a fancy stitch all the way around the It is done and ready to use.

a man sitting at a table holding up a sign that says you can't on fabric
34K views · 586 reactions | #beginnersewing #sewingtips #sewingproject #sewing | By Tutorial sewing | Watch this. We just printed onto fabric from a regular office printer. This was a laser jet printer and you can do it too and I'm going to tell you how. The secret to this is freezer paper. Now, I'm using this one. This is a Reynolds brand, it is freezer paper and it is plastic coated. Make sure it says plastic coated on there 'cuz that's the key to this whole thing. When you talk about sending papers through printer, we have a regular letter size. That's eight and a half by 11. So, that's what we want to focus on. I cut a piece of freezer just slightly larger than that. I went 9 by 12. This is the freezer paper. It looks like regular white paper on one side. The other side you probably can't see on camera but it's a shiny side and that's the plastic coating. It's very thin. It's just like regular paper. Then I also cut a piece of fabric. This one isn't just white fabric. I cut this also a little larger. This one is 10 by 13. The reason I did them larger is because you're going to take this to your ironing board. We're going to put the plastic side of the freezer paper down over fabric. Take your iron and press this for a good good minute or so and when you're done, flip it over and then press the fabric side as well. We want this really really adhered to really well. Now, once you've done that, I cut these larger because you have to cut this down to eight and a half by 11. Don't start with eight and a half by eleven because if you do, you're going to be off a little bit or your fabric could start to fray. You don't want that. You want the fresh cut from a rotary cutter. So, one this is fused, you're going to cut your piece at eight and a half by eleven and then it is ready. Take a look at your printer because one side is the right side and one is the wrong side. Make sure you put the fabric facing in the right direction so the ink will print on your fabric and not your paper. We have done this on a on a pretty piece of material just to show you. You can print on any kind of material that you like. This is a cotton fabric. Don't don't do something thick like flannel but use a cotton cotton you can print anything you want on here. The possibilities of this are endless. I mean, think about it. Kids drawings from school, photographs, you know, from anytime in your life. Even kids favorite cartoon characters or something. Whatever you're going to make, you can print it and then, you just took a look at a handwritten note from me thanking you from watching this video. Well, we had that scanned in and look, we printed this on fabric as well. So now, our thank you to you is Forever Enshrinded on fabric.
a person is working on a sewing machine
158K views · 2.2K reactions | #beginnersewing #sewingtips #sewingproject #sewing | By Tutorial sewing | A sewing machine technician's guide to cleaning and oiling your sewing machine. The same principles are going to apply for every machine that has a top loading bobbin like this one. We're going to start from the top down. First thing we're going to do open up your face plate cover and look for any dust, lint and brush it out and really what you want to check for is for thread that's gotten caught up in these mechanisms. Mine looks to be okay but if you see thread being caught up in there you want to take some tweezer and very carefully pull it out. You don't want to snap it because then it's just going to leave the rest of it jammed in there. You're going to try to unwind it the way it wound itself. Next you're going to want to take off your needle plate and pluck out your bobbin case. So we're going to look in here. Mine's not too bad. But first you're going to start with brushing out big pieces and make sure that you're doing this in an upwards motion. What you don't want to do is accidentally push dust further into the machine. So you're going to start with kind of an upwards lifting motion to get all that stuff out. And afterwards I like to go over it with a Q-tip. And that just picks up all the little specs that the brush leaves behind. You're going to want to do the same thing for your bobbin case. Clean it thoroughly with the Q tip on all sides. One place you want to have a good look at is the tip of your hook. This is the part that actually goes behind the needle and forms a stitch. Often at the tip of hook it will develop burs and rough spots from needle strikes and what not. This is going to cause all sorts of thread snagging, bunching up all sorts of problems. So if you see any needle strikes or rough marks what you can do is take some really fine sandpaper maybe start at 600 grit, then move up to 1200 grit and just try to sand off that rough spot. And if that doesn't help maybe it's time to take it to a professional. To clean your tension discs what we're going to do is First make sure that the presser foot is raised. This make sure that the tension discs are split apart and there's room for us to clean in between them. Now you're going to take a clean piece of lint free fabric and you're going to floss it through the tension disc area. Now what we're trying to do is just clear away any dust or dirt or grime that's sitting there so that we can get nice even tension. That's all it takes. Now it's time to oil. We're going to start with the needle bar. Now this is the main needle bar and there's two spots where it frictions with the machine. The top part and then the bottom part. So you're going to want to put a tiny drop of oil on each of those spots. So one right there and one right where the machine meets with the needle bar. Tiny tiny drops of oil. You really don't need much at all. Moving down to the bobbin area. If your machine has a little wick in the centre you can put one little drop of oil in there. The last spot I want you to oil is there's this little ridge on the hook and this is where the bobbin case actually sits in and so you're going to put the tiniest little drop of oil on this ridge right here. Once you that you are good to put your bobbin case back in and reassemble your machine and start sewing. I hope this helps. Follow for more.
