This 15th Century fortress overlooking Lachlan Bay, Loch Fyne, was the seat of the Maclachlan Clan until the 18th Century when it was abandoned after their Chief supported Bonnie Prince Charlie's Jacobite Rebellion and died at the Battle of Culloden (1746). Taking In Castle Stalker!
Castle Stalker is picturesquely set on a tidal islet on Loch Laich, midway between Oban and Glen Coe only accessible (with difficulty) from the shore at low tide. Throughout it's history it has seated the Clans MacDougall, Stewart, and after a drunken bet, Campbell - as well as being visited by King James IV of Scotland.
