Antique Mirror Splashback

We currently have over 50 mirror finishes to chose from and are always developing new ideas and welcoming commissions to create different finishes. We have some interesting reverse gilded, and Verre Églomisé glass which can be used on clear or tinted glass. The majority of our finishes can be produced on glass Toughened to BS EN 12150, making them suitable for use behind a heat source or as a table top. You can order returnable samples via our website or call us with your requirements.

Geevor - named after the Tin Mines in Cornwall - is one of our more unusual finishes. It's created with oil gilded silver metal leaf on the reverse of clear glass, slightly distressed. The individual silver leaves measure approximately 150mm square and are laid in a grid formation. If your project requires a non reflected finish this would be a great option. We would recommend ordering a sample to view in person so you can see for yourself how beautiful this finish is! 🤍

Our Workshop Manager Ian - contemplating on how much he loves our new finish; Gold Ombré on Clear (or Bronze Tinted) glass! 💛 It's our newest and most contemporary mirror finish with graduated layers of bright reflective mirror (or bronze tinted mirror) fading into a non reflective gold. You can specify where you would like the gradient to begin on your bespoke panel. Any RAL colour of paint can also be chosen. How would you incorporate this in a design piece? 🤔

New Furrowed & Ribbed Antique Mirror Finishes by Rough Old Glass

New for 2023, our hand silvered, antique mirror glass finishes 'Furrowed' & 'Ribbed' join our Fluted antique mirror that has proven so popular since it's launch t the Surface Design show in early 2022. These finishes can all be produced on 6mm thick glass and can be toughened so they are suitable for commercial applications and use behind a heat source. Splashback Tiles

Antique Mirrors, Antiqued Mirror Splashback & Tiles

Our beautiful county is home to many designers and makers and we love to collaborate with them when we can. As well as showcasing their beautiful designs in their Chelsea Harbour showroom @turnstyledesigns workshop is located just a couple of miles away from our own in North Devon and they love to borrow our finish samples to use as backgrounds to show off their luxury cabinet and architectural hardware. Morwellham Sample

Our Morwellham finish, named after the historic river port Morwellham Quay in Devon that supported the local copper mine, is oil gilded with 150mm squares of copper leaf on the reverse of clear glass. Gilding on glass with an oil size (adhesive) creates a satin/matt finish and is therefore a good option if you're looking for a less reflective surface.

Friday Finish... Horizontal Wire with a Vintage finish. Embedded wire within 7mm thick glass, hand silvered and distressed. Suitable for many applications, including splash backs behind a heat source.

Rough Old Glass - Alchemy At the Rough Old Glass workshops we use traditional hand silvering techniques to create beautiful and original panels of antiqued mirror glass. We can produce toughened antiqued mirror splashbacks and tiles made to client's specifications, along with bespoke panelled walls and contemporary hanging mirrors.
