This fascinating, large-format map of London was published in 1899 by the Railway Clearing House - an organisation that had been set up to allow passengers and goods to travel across multiple railway networks, and make sure that the owners of those networks were fairly paid. The Railway Clearing House would go on to manage the interoperability of British railways until 1954 when most of its responsibilities were passed to the recently nationalised British Transport Commission.
