Mapperton House
Mapperton is a perfect valley garden near Beaminster in West Dorset. There's an Italianate garden with grottoes and stone birds and fountains. There's a summer house, orangery and a wild garden. There's also the traces of a 17th century parterre discernible when the weather is very dry. The house is in the private ownership of the Earl & Countess of Sandwich. It is well worth a visit.
