"Here is a spectacular stone and crystal Skull, carved from a single piece of native stone in Peru's Sacred Valley around the Cusco area. It comes from an old collection that we recently had the privilege of purchasing from a trusted source of ours. While we don't know the name of the artisan, we can see that this artist utilizes the natural formations of the stone he uses as his medium, incorporating these natural formations into the figure itself, making each one unique. Many of the pieces in this collection are geodes, with cavernous portions displaying pretty crystal interiors, and other portions being more clearly carved and articulated. The influence of the Incan and Andean (and sometimes even Mayan) styles can be clearly seen in this work. It's an extraordinary collection!
