Create Your Own Schoolyard Animal!!I used this resource alongside our Schoolyard Safari unit where students learnt about the different animals that live in our school playground and how even though their habitats are small, they provide these animals with everything they need to survive. I then used this as an end of unit assessment to see if my student understood what animals need to survive in different habitats, by letting them design their own animal that could live in the school yard. They had to think about where it lives, the food it eats and its special features and make sure that all of this could be found within the school or their chosen habitat.The following resource includes dotted and lined writing pages to form a book in both full and half size A4 paper and provides students with prompts about what they need to write to keep them on track. After this students could also make a diorama or make their animal out of clay to further their learning. I hope your students love doing this as much as mine did!
