Neudorf Moutere Pinot Noir 2002, Nelson, New Zealand. Light in colour, but intense in fruit flavours, ripe cherry, plum, raspberry and strawberry with streaks of earthiness and mushrooms. Excellent balance and length and a complexity developed through cellaring. At 10 years old a superb wine.
Martinborough Vineyards Gewurztraminer 1994, Martinborough, New Zealand What a classic aged Gewurztraminer - intense floral and fruit character with excellent length and spice flavours. Ata Rangi Pinot Noir 1996, Martinborough, New Zealand. A wine full of intense maturation character, ripe red fruits and cherry, balanced by an earthiness that gave the wine real complexity. This is a stunning wine to cellar - if you still have some keep for another 5 years.
Charles Sparr Mambourg Gewurztraminer 2011. Clear and bright straw colour. Intensely scented with lycee, fruit salad, and tropical fruit characters integrated with floral and spicy hints. Felton Road Central Otago Chardonnay 2007 (New Zealand) . A delicious chardonnay full of fruit and character. Light lemony and citrus (grapefruit) flavours with nutty and buttery elements which give this wine an elegant balance. Emerging complexity and excellent length. Highly recommended.
Dry River Arapoff Syrah 2001, Martinborough, New Zealand. Intensely coloured deep red with hints of purple. A huge aroma of plum, spice and pepper and raspberry flavours in the background. Blain Gagnard Criots Batard Montrachet Grand Cru 2005 Integrated complex fruit, marmalade, peach, stone fruit. Subtle and complex, balanced and elegant. Excellent length and intensity. I gave this wine the top mark in a recent tasting.
