MRT: Taipei metro map, Taiwan The Taipei metro, known as MRT, is the first and only system in Taiwan. Opened in 1996. It serves the capital of Taiwan and its 2.7 million inhabitants. It consists of 5 lines serving 117 stations, plus two shuttles. The total length of the system is 131.1 km. The metro is operated by Taipei Rapid Transit Corporation (TRTC).
