Thanks to MI Chelle on Facebook for this one.. already have a version of it from my local Sainsbury, but this is from another part of town! @Jock_Abroad on Twitter asked me where it was manufactured, alerting me to yet another angle: where are all the #unnecessaryunionjacks made? Are they all "patriotic" enough to use UK manufacturers?

WH Smith, Sauchiehall Street Glasgow. At first I thought I was just taking a picture of a solitary Union Jack greeting card; then I noticed it was branded "English Heritage" along with a whole bunch of others, and above a whole bunch branded "National Trust". Nothing against either organisation, they do good work and have nice greeting cards, but we do have our equivalent Scottish organisations, and there were no Scottish cards to be seen alongside these. #unnecessaryunionjacks

Thanks @glittrgirl on Twitter for sharing these lovely #stgeorgescross knickers with the red diamante cross right where your back passage aperture would be. John Lewis, Newcastle. Taken as part of the #unnecessaryunionjacks project to show that in England Union Jacks and English flags are obviously considered fair game for patriotic products, meanwhile, #saltires have virtually disappeared in Scotland. I think it is some comfort to English people that these are on sale because noone bought…
