Huttonaea grandiflora is a species of orchid native to South Africa, only growing in cold high mountains between 2300 m – 2900 m, making Lesotho an ideal location. The flowers are a white-yellow colour with purple markings and striking jagged edges. This is a terrestrial orchid meaning that unlike the orchids we are most familiar with, these do not produce aerial roots or stems that climb trees and bushes and prefer to keep their roots in the ground.
