Hill and Adamson took about 120 photographs of fishing life at Newhaven and intended to publish them in a separate album. They admired the strength of the fishermen and their families, flourishing even in times of great economic difficulty. Boys learned from their fathers how to manage the small, open boats, which travelled a hundred miles up the east coast to the summer fishing grounds.
