#ART | On Kawara | "In the late 19605 somebody in Nova Scotia told me they had learned that there was a Japanese artist who announced (via telegram) that he was 'still alive': On Kawara. I thought Kawara was a typhoon-swept island and, hence, had a picture in my mind of this guy hanging on for dear life to the branch of a tree. There was On, up there on a tree and still able to get messages of his plight out - at least to the art world." -Garry Neill Kennedy
