Every time I revisit the story about Ruby Bridges it reminds me of all the children who suffered, like myself as well, so much prejudice and discrimination and bias from those whose duty it was to nurture and protect.

Walker there was Annie Turnbo Malone, " The Forgotten Entrepreneur" (1869-1957) A chemist and entrepreneur, Annie Turnbo Malone became a millionaire by successfully developing and marketing hair products for black women in St. Louis. She used her wealth to promote the advancement of African Americans and gave away most of her money to charity.
Though born into slavery Biddy Mason gained freedom for herself and her children in 1856. Only ten years later she had saved enough money to purchase property, making her the first African American woman to own land in Los Angeles. A nurse and midwife by profession, she helped found the first elementary school for African American children in Los Angeles,
Note the clothing in the photo on the right, this is still the story of America. A man was lynched this year. This is not history, but the continuation of systematic violence used to instill fear and control POC.
"Mitochondrial Eve" is estimated to have lived between 99,000 and 200,000 years ago, most likely in East Africa, when Homo sapiens (anatomically modern humans) were developing as a population distinct from other human sub-species. All living humans are descended from this one specific African woman. The dating for "Eve" was a blow to the multiregional hypothesis and a boost to the theory of the origin and dispersion of modern humans from Africa.
