Our first VCR cost over $1000.00 in the late 70s. All it did was record over the air. No pre-recorded tapes such as movies were available. It took a drive to the state Capitol to buy a blank tape. It cost $30.00 for one blank tape. There was no wireless remote, but it came witH a 25' cable that plugged into the unit and allowed you to record, stop, pause, and play. I don't remember if there were volume controls such as up, down, mute.

When my Daddy dedicated his life to God he stopped buying anything on Sunday unless it was an emergency. He stopped taking shifts at Armco on Sundays and it affected his pay but he paid his tithes before anything else and we never went without. He was a holy man. I have no doubt in my mind of him never having made it to Heaven.
