Day dress, circa 1890. Fine pleated linen. The 3-tiered skirt is decorated with geometric motifs, which also appear at the collar and cuffs. A large belt emphasizes the slimness of the waist. Via Sugino Museum.

Digital Artists Maciej and Miho unknowingly dressed alike today!

Evening dress, ca. 1900-05. Made of "ninon" fabric (sheer, delicate material, probably silk here) on which lace is embroidered in chain stitch. Garlands of tiny flowers applied to top layer of skirt. Ruffles and fine pleats of underdress are seen through top layer. The difference in the colors of the pictures is exasperating, but I suspect the blue one is accurate. Sugino Costume Museum
