Working on interior of a corner of my bedroom of my home in Highland Park that I started 16 years ago and stopped working on when I closed my studio. I began with a gray and white underpainting on a toned ground of a pale orange color. This painting will have many layers and some redrawing before it is finished.

Lincolnwood Alley Bent Tree finished (I think).

This is my third session on this piece. I still have lots of work to do on it. Today I concentrated on laying in planes and didn't finish with that. Hopefully one more session to define the structure of the work and then more work needed to balance the light and color effects and refine details.

I grew up in Lincolnwood, and one of the great things about the village was the alleys. They had a great sense of mystery, and I often wandered through them in my alternate reality. One of a series of 10 mixed media pieces I'm working on. This one is about half finished. Still a lot of work to be done.

This work is developed from a view photographed during a hike in the mountains outside of Tucson. As I developed this piece it became a combination of my memories of that hike and my feelings about a trip into the mountains around Nikko in Japan, a trip I had taken when I studied in Japan 44 years ago. This piece may be finished, but I'm not sure so I'll leave for another month or so and then see if I think there is anything else I need to do with it.

Another view from my Tucson hike. The rock in the center foreground looks like it has a head, and takes on a feeling of symbolism, a natural form concentrating the powerful forces of the surrounding world. This work is about 3/4 finished, and I will leave it for a month or several months and then come back to it to see what more needs to be done.

Another session with this piece (posted an earlier version). Still a good bit of work to do on this, but making some progress.
