The previously unseen painting depicts a pensive-looking Victorian woman and is annotated Emily Jane Bronte. Ann Dinsdale, collections manager at the Bronte Parsonage Museum in Haworth said: “The problem is who would have wanted to paint Emily Bronte, apart from her brother Branwell, who aspired to a career as a portrait artist?”
Charlotte Bronte (1816 - 1855) - an astounding writer, 'Jane Eyre' still remains one of my all time favourite novels. For me, the deeper, grittier works of the Bronte sisters will always far outshine the more celebrated Jane Austin and her frivolous social ettiquette novels about getting the right husband! I'll take brooding over ballrooms any day!.
