"Grongar Hill" by John Piper, 1982. In 1982 Piper illustrated a limited edition of Grongar Hill by Stourton Press. Grongar Hill, a poem by John Dyer first published in 1726, struck Piper 'as one of the best purely topographical poems in existence, because it is so visual. ... I have loved the poem ever since I first read it, and I return to it whenever I feel depressed about the countryside getting spoilt.'
