John Adams, Second President of the United States served as Vice President under Washington. He was a signer of the Declaration of Independence and acted as envoy to France, the Netherlands and Great Britain during and after the Revolutionary War. The Adams presidency was marred by the Alien and Sedition Acts, which limited political debate and participation and were largely dismantled by Jefferson.
John Quincy Adams - 6th President of U.S. - son of John Adams, (2nd President). He served as Secretary of State under James Monroe, and is regarded as one of the greatest diplomats in American history. He reportedly had the highest IQ of any American President. He died in 1848 at the age of 81.
