Soho, London c.1945: A different type of variety show was provided by "The Windmill Theatre", which became famous for its daring tableaux vivants and non-stop revue called "Revudeville". It was also the only theatre in London to remain open during the height of the Blitz, a fact it proudly proclaims on the sign visible in this photograph above the theatre's entrance: 'we never closed' (or "we never clothed" as the wags would have it).
