British Empire: Armed Forces: Units: British Infantry: The Sherwood Foresters (Nottinghamshire and Derbyshire Regiment) Officer's Helmet Badge 1881 - 1901 Prior to 1881 most regiments of foot used numbers on their badges as was the case for the 45th and 95th but on the regimental badge here a lodged stag has been adopted as the symbol together with the Maltese Cross of the old 95th. The silver scroll at the base of the badge has SHERWOOD FORESTERS
