SCHOOL-BASED SOLUTION #2: UC Santa Barbara follows environmental organization based on the idea that its starts at the structure - literally. UCSB is the first in the nation to receive 2 LEED Platinum certifications. The building is made of recycled materials and contains a roof of only solar panels. Each dining common on campus is also green dining certified, which is a total of 4 dining commons. Though not through policies, UCSB lives environmental justice through practice.
CITY-BASED SOLUTIONS #1: [Reykjavik, Iceland] I personally researched this city for our google doc. This city is completely powered by renewable energy, surrounded by geothermal activity which is converted into clean energy, uses hydropower & geothermal activity to provide hot water, electricity and heat for the city. Named the #1 greenest city in the world in 2013.
COUNTRY-BASED SOLUTIONS: Germany is definitely a model for the environmentally friendly movement and "has more than half of the world’s solar-power generating capacity and has invested over $14 billion in green technology last year."
