1512 April 10 – 14 December 1542) James V, King of Scotland James V, father of Mary Queen of Scots, was the only surviving son of James IV and Margaret Tudor and was born on or around 10th April, 1512 at the Palace of Linlithgow in West Lothian. He became King in 1513 at 17 months old on the death of his father in battle against the English on Flodden field.
