Naiku Grand Shrine of Ise - Sacred pillars of Ise Grand Shrine. Shrine carpenters use oversized mallets to strike wooden pillars during the Ricchu-sai festival in the Naiku (Inner Shrine) at the Ise Grand Shrines in Mie Prefecture. This ritual is part of the preparation for the Shikinen Sengu ceremony, held every 20 yrs for more than 1300 yrs. The 62nd one will be in autumn 2013.
