I chose this image to pin because the whole background is smudged with splashes of colour, and then right in the middle as a focus, there is a white blank figure of a girl. When there is a dramatic colour difference, it creates emphasis for the eyes to focus on the girl.
From My Window Mischa Askenazy SOLD (1888 - 1961) c. 1938 Oil on Canvas, 40 x 30 inches The artist loved this theme and executed several versions of it. The windows open to the backyard of his home in Normandy Village, Hollywood, now the site of the Hollywood Bowl. Askenazy is considered one of California's finest figure painters of the Post Impressionist or Early Modernist movements.
