Patent Ochsner, a household name in Switzerland, has been around since 1928. Their stainless steel bins are great for smaller spaces that don't generate a ton of trash, and the utilitarian industrial vibe of the classic bin is warmed up by an optional beech wood seat with felt cushion. About $285 at Patent Ochsner.
A wonderful little couch, recovered in royal blue with red piping (R4000). The Union Jack cushion is 60x60cm and made from felt (R750). Available @ HOME AFFAIRS mid century FURNITURE, 407a Albert Road Salt River Cape Town 0214473427
The October 1955 House & Garden advertised itself as the 'Autumn Decorating Issue' with this cover, a layout for a studio guest room furnished in midcentury modern design. Colorful felt cushions are lined neatly along a simple sofa, and curtains by Jack Lenor Larsen hang airily from the ample windows above. A glass lamp rests on top of the black cube that serves as an end table. Photograph by William Grigsby.
