Chicago Athletic Association Hotel | The conversion of an athletic club into a hotel imaginatively combines modern and historic architectural flourishes for an updated approach to play and respite. By Hartshorne Plunkard Architecture and Roman and Williams Buildings and Interiors.
Low hanging lights from a high ceiling are all the rage and are becoming more and more popular. Especially in lobbies. I believe it's because when we look to the ceiling and see the lights we can't see the ceiling but we can sense the echoes so it feels like the top could be going on forever. Also the high windows allow for natural light from the world outside and a fantastic view is excellent to top it all off.
