Traditional costumes from Mesta, Chios island, Greece/Παραδοσιακες φορεσιες απο τα Μεστα της Χιου. "Η Μπαμπαζίνα ήταν η νυφική φορεσιά των Μεστών. Αποτελούταν από μια ρουγιαστή φούστα,  στενομάνικο (πουκάμισο),  φαρδομάνικο, το Σαμαράκι, το Τσερδέ, την ποδιά, την μπαμπαζίνα (μαντίλα) απ’ όπου πήρε και το όνομα της και το στεφάνι."

Greek festive dress from Silli (Sille), near Ikonion/Konya in Asia Minor/Turkey.  Late-Ottoman era, early 20th century.   The Greek-Orthodox inhabitants from Turkey were expelled from the country in 1923, in exchange for Muslim populations from Greece.  At this occasion Turkey lost a lot of cultural and economic potential, and the expelled lost their homeland.
