Motorola was originally a company that made radios for cars. In 1950 they played a role in the nationwide growth of television. There were 3 million homes with TV sets in 1950 and by the end of the decade over 90 percent of homes had a television set in use.
Caterpillar offered this mid-1950s ad in support of the Federal Highway Act of 1956 that paved the way to the Interstate Highway System. These roads link the nation and now carry over one-fourth of all traffic in the US.
