Georgia: Burger at Holeman & Finch in Atlanta Not every burger has an alarm rung in its honor, but Holeman & Finch’s does. Like feeding time for cattle, a bullhorn sounds at 10 PM when it’s burger time. Only about two dozen are made each night, so you've got to hustle if you want a taste. Grass-fed, freshly ground beef is topped with Kraft American cheese, red onion, bread-and-butter pickles, mustard and ketchup.
Holeman & Finch Burger Location: Atlanta, GA Why It's Elusive: Only 24 are available at 10 p.m. The Situation: The magic hour at Atlanta's Holeman & Finch is 10 p.m. when a staff member with a bullhorn calls out to the dining room that "burger time" has finally arrived. Every night at the stroke of 10, 24 lucky diners will get their hands on these double patty cheeseburgers that come on house-made buns with ketchup, mustard and pickles.
Holeman & Finch Atlanta The burger: The Burger H&F was the trendsetter, with its gold standard of a simple burger: double cheeseburger with American, red onions, pickles, ketchup, mustard, and a house-made bun only available after 10pm (limited to 24!) and at brunch. And, thankfully, the burger finally graduated to the real menu at the end of last year, so we can have it any damn time we please. That is, if you get a reservation (also now available!) or can handle the wait time.
As for the origin of this ground chuck + brisket (from local farms) burger on a specially made bun topped with homemade ketchup, homemade mustard, pickles, onions, and cheddar… they set out to make the BEST burger. And that they did. In fact as they set out to make the best bun… they inadvertently launched a H&F Bread Co which now supplies fresh bread to much of Atlanta!
