One of @GMPBlackley’s 3000-plus followers on Twitter has enjoyed the tweets from the local officers – who cover Higher Blackley and Charleston – so much that she had a cake especially made to celebrate the second anniversary of the team’s very first tweet. The cake is to be sliced up and sold around the team’s base on the Force’s North Manchester Division, with all proceeds going to charity. www.gmp.police.uk

Christian Pepple from Robust Security Services said: "This event has really helped to inspire me. The speakers who spoke about how they started their business and took it to the next level showed me that I should never give up and to keep pushing to grow the business further. It's important to keep momentum and focus, I've learnt."

Defibrillators are now fitted in police vehicles on GMPs North Manchester Division. Installed with the support of the North West Ambulance Service, they allow officers to provide potentially life-saving care in emergencies if they are the first to arrive at the scene. The Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs) were fitted into traffic cars earlier this year and were used within a day of being installed. Two officers used a device on a man in Cheadle in April, he later made a full recovery.

Lifesaving defibrillators have been installed across Tottington following an appeal by officers and the community. PCSO Gareth Price from Bury Division came up with the idea of installing the medical equipment across the town following a discussion with a Ramsbottom Community First Responder. He worked alongside resident, Judith Kelly who tirelessly devoted her time to fundraise and contact businesses for their support. http://www.efirstaid.com.au/
