The Bear Nobody Wanted by Allan Ahlberg, the story of a Teddy Bear who is created in a factory with a proud looking face, and no one wants him. After belonging to many children, none of whom treat him properly, he finally finds where he belongs.
The dialect alone makes this worth reading. But I also thought that it was a great storyline, and can be read on multiple different levels. However, if you want to both read the book and see the movie, I'd recommend seeing the movie first. That way the book will fill in the holes, as opposed to the movie leaving out the best parts.
