Favorite Fall Activities #1: Visit a Pumpkin Patch/Corn maze! We highly recommend Barton Hill Farms in Bastrop & Sweet Berry Farm in Marble Falls. Both are a short drive from Austin and offer pumpkin patches, mazes & other fun family activities.
Favorite Fall Activities #9: Eat your fill of Texas BBQ! Some of our favorites include Franklin Barbecue in East Austin, Smitty's Market in Lockhart, and The Salt Lick (BBQ) in Driftwood. No matter which you choose, we guarantee you’ll leave full and happy!
Favorite Fall Activities #8: Take a train ride on the Austin Steam Train. Ride back in time in vintage passenger cars on a trip from Cedar Park into the Hill Country. Trains depart from Cedar Park on Saturdays and Sundays. Several different trips are offered, from the popular Hill Country Flyer to the seasonal North Pole Flyer, sure to be a hit with the kids.
Favorite Fall Activities #7: Relax at your favorite coffee shop with a seasonal beverage. While we're partial to the Starbucks in our lobby, you can't go wrong with Mozart's Coffee Roasters or Caffé Medici.
Favorite Fall Activities #3: Go back in time at Pioneer Farms Living History Park! At Pioneer Farms, you’ll find five themed historic areas to explore: a Tonkawa Indian Encampment, a German Emigrant Farm, a Texian Farm, a Cotton Planter's Farm and a rural village called Sprinkle Corner. Tip: Don't miss Haunted Trails, their Halloween-themed event which runs Fridays & Saturdays in October.
Love the colors of fall? Lost Maples State Park is the best location in Central Texas to see the fall foliage. It’s a three-hour drive from Austin but well worth the trip!
