Employers urged to encourage lunch breaks for staff
DIY instructions - We are creating recipe cards to display on our salad and sandwich bars to give customers ideas about salads and sandwiches they can assemble themselves. The cards will have a color picture of the item and an ingredient list. This will save space in our delis and provide another [on-the-spot] idea for customers.
Healthier environments - We just got a grant that will be for 1- to 5-year-olds so that we can work with the county health department to do some outreach at area supermarkets to help them market their healthier items. We’re going to give them an emblem or signage to mark those healthier items to make it easy to identify better-for-you options. It’s part of making the entire community a part of a healthy environment.
Tell it with pictures - We have a lot of Burmese patients who have literacy issues and can’t read our menus, so we started a room service style just for them. We take photos of menu items to show them what the foods look like. We got funding through an organization to have someone come in half a day to work with these patients.
