On a recent cruise to New Guinea and the Solomon Islands I saw many intricately carved stone and wooden images of turtles. I realised how important the turtle is to the culture and lifestyle of these people so wanted a turtle to be featured in this challenge. I used broderie perse for the turtle and needleturn and embroidery for the other aspects. I finished with a layer of blue organza to create an underwater feeling.
