Dr. Clelia Mosher - 1892 Dr. Clelia Mosher (1863 - 1940) was a brilliant and extraordinary woman who made debunking the claims of Victorian medicine regarding the frailty of the female body her life's work.
There is a nearly shocking moment, as you look at this photo, when it hits you that it's not modern (by any stretch of the imagination), it is of (photographer) Albert Sands Southworth and was taken in 1848. A time when the last thing most people (today) would imagine a prim and proper Victorian gentleman doing would be to pose for a topless self-portrait. Simply wonderful. #Victorian #man #daguerreotype #vintage #antique #1840s #self_portrait #art
