(Hattiesburg, MS) The swan sculptures are part of a large-scale, outdoor public art project by the Area Development Partnership called the "Festival of Swans". The main objective is to improve the "economic well-being and quality of life for Hattiesburg area citizens." The ADP hopes to stimulate economic growth and promote tourism.The Festival was originally modeled after other public art projects such as the "Cows on Parade" in Chicago and New York, and "Festival of Fins" in New Orleans.
