A wonderful drama and movement lesson plan for creating a powerful performance of a WW1 narrative poem, The Hero by Siegfried Sassoon. Students explore the narrative WW1 poem, looking at its rhythm, language, characters, story and, most importantly, the ironic contrasts it presents. They then use this learning to bring the poem to life. The lesson plan is clear and detailed and gives opportunities for all students to discuss and present ideas. This lesson works really well with G7 to G12, but could easily be suitable for older or slightly younger students.
