Angel Eyes is kind of a action romantic starring Jennifer Lopez a Chicago cop with an attitude who is saved by Jim Caviezel during an life threatening situation. The movie has decent elements but the chemistry between Lopez and Caviezel is not there and the movie falls flat.
The Cell (2000) Jennifer Lopez stars as psychotherapist Catherine Deane, who uses an experimental -- and potentially dangerous -- technique to step inside the disturbed psyche of comatose serial killer Carl Stargher (Vincent D'Onofrio) in an attempt to save his last victim. Director Tarsem Singh makes his big-screen debut with this harrowing, mind-bending thriller that boasts a strong supporting cast, including Vince Vaughn, Jake Weber and James Gammon.
Red (2010) After trading in his professional past as a black-ops CIA operative for a new identity, Frank Moses (Bruce Willis) is basking in normality. But he's forced to return to old habits when an assassin puts a target on his back and goes after the woman (Mary-Louise Parker) he loves. Helen Mirren and John Malkovich co-star as former members of Frank's team who reluctantly reassemble to save his life in this Golden Globe-nominated action-comedy.
Formula 51 is a British action comedy starring Samuel L. Jackson who plays an illegal chemist who favors a kilt to pants. The movie stars a lot of big names but the acting never quite reaches the best it can be. However, the movie is filled with action and is funny. The best part of this movie is Jackson being Jackson, role he is best suited for.
Haywire is one of Steven Soderbergh's action film, starring Gina Carano who is a female MMA fighter who never acted before. It shows. Despite some of the biggest name in acting, like Michael Fassbender, Ewan McGregor, Bill Paxton, Channing Tatum, Antonio Banderas and Michael Douglas, the movie lacks story to make it interesting. The action is plenty in this movie and despite her first acting Carano doesn't suck. However, not everything adds up to a great movie.
I liked Duets not because it's one of few Karaoke movies ever, but it's got a compelling storyline about the father rediscovering his relationship with his daughter through karaoke. I was impressed with Huey Lewis' acting chop and Gwyneth Paltrow/s singing voice. That chemistry made this movie special. Gwyneth's real life father Bruce Paltrow directed this movie.
Shanghai Noon brings Jackie Chan and Owen Wilson together in this western comedy and the chemistry works well between the two. This storyline is a bit thin but the action and acting brings this movie together along with the witty dialog that sometime is corny but works well in this movie. These two should more movies together.
