Livadiya Palace in the Crimea once belonged to Greek commander who sold it to a Polish Count in 1834. In 1861 Livadiya was bought by Alexander II and became the favorite summer residence of three generations of the Romanovs. The Palace was rebuilt in 1910-11 by a 39-years Russian architect of Swiss descent, Ippolit Monigetti, the chief architect of Tsarskoye Selo Palaces, and the project's author Russian architect Nikolay Krasnov.
