Die High Line war vor einigen Jahren noch braun. In den dreißiger Jahren war die ehemalige Hochbahntrasse für den Güterverkehr in Betrieb genommen und 1980 stillgelegt worden. Danach war das Areal für die Öffentlichkeit gesperrt – in dieser Zeit entstanden diese Fotos: als Teil eines Semesterprojekts von Architekturstudenten. 1999 wurde das High-Line-Park-Projekt begonnen.
