Bergenia cordifolia 'Bressingham White' is a clump-forming evergreen perennial and is very useful ground cover. Unlike some of its relatives, 'Bressingham White' is a tasteful blush pink rather than a lurid candy floss colour carried on rhubarb-red stems. Even people who say they can't stand elephant's ears will like this cultivar. It makes around 45cm in height and spread and will tolerate sun or partial shade. I use them all the time when I'm designing gardens.
The Apple Tree Garden originally housed my original collection of blue seed-grown delphiniums. They were initially a bit of a flop (literally), until the trees and shrubs planted nearer to the road gave wind shelter.
