Raffles Hotel

The famous Raffles Hotel in Singapore. I had a Singapore Sling there in 1983. The Hotel opened in 1899, when Singapore was under British Colonial rule. In 1942 the Japanese took Singapore, and took over the Hotel for their officers.

Sugar Cane Farming. The cane is deliberately burnt,to remove dead leaves,rats nests etc and then harvested mechanically. It then has to be crushed to a very fast schedule at the Mill.
