The Mede (L) belonged to an Iranic empire which reached its glory in the 7th C. BCE preceding the Persian Empire. Their priests were the "Magi" (a pre-Zoroastrian Mazdaism or Mithra worshipping religion) Later the reforms of Zarathustra spread in w. Iran. The word paradise is derived from the Median language.
